Exhibition Statement

This exhibition features works by Claire Smith, Carolina Alamilla, and Britny Wainwright.

Smith’s obsession with repetition, found materials, and vibrant fabrics leaves the viewer itching for tactile engagement. The works are constructed with playful logic and act as a subtle distraction from how dark the world can be by adding a little brightness, playful personification, and comfortable approachability.

In this first collaboration, Alamilla and Wainwright are interested in combining hard and soft, decoration as a power move, and bold tastes in color. This installation of digitally printed wallpaper and ceramic and fiber sculpture creates a space that is jungle, kitchen, and theater. It is a space for viewers to walk into, laugh along with, and be enveloped in the oddly private and public space the artists have created.
