Columbus, Ohio | 934 Gallery Welcomes Back Annual Fundraising Festival
934 Gallery’s annual fundraising arts & music festival will return to the gallery campus on Friday & Saturday, September 10 & 11, 2021. Sidelined last year due to the global pandemic, 934 Fest took on a virtual approach, streaming the 2020 festival online with a full lineup of musical artists. This year, 934 Fest is using a hybrid approach, realizing that not everyone may feel comfortable being back in person. 934 Fest will stream online and be accessible to those wishing to participate in person, both options remain completely free.
The festival begins Friday, September 10, at 7 p.m., with food from NAICCO Cuisine, a Native American-owned and operated food trailer, beverages to purchase, and 4 musical acts on the Daniel Loper Memorial Stage. Festival-goers are encouraged to explore Home, an exhibition featuring work from Danielle Delay and Allison Baker.
Saturday, September 11, brings a full festival experience starting at noon with a sensory-friendly hour featuring yoga, a zen garden, succulent planting, and no musical acts. The music kicks off at 1 p.m. on the Daniel Loper Memorial Stage and will rotate throughout the day with the Mural Alley Stage. 934 Fest has invited Punk Rock Pawn Shop vendors to set up during the day. Other features of 934 Fest include a Comedy Hour, kid’s activities, a visit from Openheartcreatures Body Puppets, and food from Tibetan Momo and Street Thyme Food Truck. The festival closes with 3 big acts, Radattack at 9 p.m., Jayswifa at 9:45 p.m., and Love_Higher closing out 934 Fest with a DJ set at 10:15 p.m.
Danielle Delay and Allison Baker take on the honor of being this year’s festival artists. Home will be open and visitors will be able to explore the exhibition throughout the festival. Home uses everyday tangible objects and elevates them to either religious symbolism or feminist iconography. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, October 23.
“Being back in person brings our mission of being an arts anchor in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood back into focus,” says 934 Gallery Board President and 934 Fest Co-Host Liz Martin.
934 Fest is free to attend and free to stream. Donations are encouraged. Funds raised from 934 Fest support 934 Gallery’s operations as a 100% volunteer-run, not-for-profit art gallery in Milo-Grogan.
